After extensive research, I decided to use TotalBoat Marine Topside Boat Paint Primer for my boat restoration project. I thinned it with Xylene and sprayed it onto the surface using a standard spray gun. The first coat came out slightly powdery, but the consistency was excellent. The second coat was smoother and went on easily. The paint was forgiving, with no runs, and was easy to sand. I would definitely use this paint again. It was also easy to brush or roller on and provided good coverage for the top coat.
